Managing for Sustainable Results

Tom JohnsonPMI are proud to have secured celebrated authors and professors Tom and Elaine Johnson on a rare visit to the UK to give us the benefit of their renowned principles and analyses first hand. They will jointly present a series of 3 master classes during which Tom’s knowledge of managing organisations and Elaine’s understanding of the brain’s functions will offer insights into organisational improvement. They will show that organisations in harmony with an optimizing system can truly move to the next level in transformed performance – in both financial and environmental terms. Tom and Elaine will present on two different subjects, in three different locations allowing maximum flexibility.

Managing by Means: Improving Business Performance by Natural Systems Leadership

Tom will explain how improvement initiatives fail primarily because managers try to describe financial results using quantitative information and then try to use the same qualitative information to explain and analyse how a company’s complex processes produced these results. In the afternoon Elaine will be explaining the phrase “managing by means” and how it derives from the scientific discovery that the processes, or means, guiding all living systems obey three principles: interdependence, self-organisation, and differentiation. This master class is offered on: Thursday 12th June 2008 at our training facility in the Midlands. Tuesday 17th June 2008 at the CQI in London

Managing for Life: The Sustainability Imperative

Managing for life has become the responsibility of every business leader. The big question is how is this responsibility to be met whilst still maintaining successful economic growth? Tom will discuss what “sustainability” means and explore business practices that hinder, or promote, sustainability. “Sustainability” is a word that certainly applies to the brain, the most complex system in the universe. In the afternoon session Elaine will explain why some organisations are toxic to the brain; others enable it to increase in strength, power, creativity and compassion. This master class is offered on: Monday 16th June 2008 at Wolseley’s Sustainable Building Center. The master classes are designed to maximize value for the attendees. Numbers will be small and ample time is allowed for discussion of delegate questions. Places are limited so book your place today to avoid disappointment. One place costs £375.
