Double Workshop at BPM Summit

PMI’s Des Kelly and Dennis Crommentuijn-Marsh recently presented at the Gartner Business Process Management Summit in London.

By using the zooming presentation editor Prezi; Des and Dennis were able to get their message across using this innovative and eye-catching method which impressed the audience.

Des presented “Scrum down”, a fun and interactive game where the principles of Six Sigma are applied to a team building game involving a rugby ball, a blindfold and a stopwatch. Could they pass the ball in the shortest amount of time? Participants engaged with much energy in the improvement activities to meet their customers’ challenges.

The game also drew out some of the key challenges in leading effective improvement and change projects, from which Des presented the underpinning principles of Lean Six Sigma and how they help address these challenges.

We often use this simulation as an ice-breaker, and if you are interested in doing a one-day introduction to BPM/BPI/BPR, we could use this with your delegates!

Dennis presented “How lean is your Pizza”,  Using examples from our Brandon Hall award winning e-Learning and serious gaming products we facilitated an interactive and fun journey mapping the value stream of a pizza restaurant run by Luigi and his wife Carlotta. This is used to give participants an appreciation of value stream mapping using a number of simple tools and techniques. We had the audience to help out with: developing flowcharts, creating a value proposition, understanding time-based measures, and finally developing a simple value stream map.

It was great to offer a view and system of improvement demonstrating that without BPI you will struggle to make BPM effective in your workplace.
